Lego My Kitty

Audrey is an extremely patient cat. Noah decided to use her as a base for building with Legos this morning.

Artichoke Season

Noah's favorite vegetables are artichokes (really, I think he likes the butter and lemon juice that we dip them in). We had our first artichokes of the season with the Wiegolds a couple weekends ago (I am way behind in blog posting). Sophia is also an avid artichoke appreciator. Please note that the wine on the table is for the adults. these pictures and videos make it look like Noah and Sophia were having a sophisticated dinner of artichokes and red wine.

Birthday Season Begins

From April through the end of July is the annual birthday season. It seems that nearly every kid we know has a birthday at this time of year. It starts with Gabriel and Isabella, both at Noah's daycare. These photos are from their party. Today we celebrated Evie's birthday (Monday), and of course I forgot my camera. May is a bit of a break, and then the birthdays start coming hard and fast all of June and July.

The American

Darren got his citizenship a couple weeks ago. After 10 years as a legal permanent resident, he finally took the plunge. That weekend we had dinner with the Weigolds and they gave him this uniquely American ensemble.

Being Silly

These are just a bunch of goofy pictures with no real story behind them.

Success at Long Last

After a year of consistent work, we've finally made it. Noah is officially potty trained for both pee and poop. I am relieved and proud. (And no, that's not Noah above. I'm not going to sacrifice his dignity by posting a picture of him on the pot).

Since Christmas, he has been in underpants with no accidents. But, he had insisted on pooping in a diaper. And by insisted, I mean major tears, fits, and withholding (which is a very bad thing).

At the beginning of March, I started telling him that when it was April, that he would be pooping in the potty only. No more diapers. We talked about it a lot. Last Friday was April 1. He wasn't too happy about it. He kept insisting that it was still March. But we persevered. It wasn't easy. We were having dinner at Sophia's house that night. Thankfully, the Wiegolds are good friends and didn't mind a little knock down, drag out parent/child tension over dinner. But finally, he did it. And now it seems like we're totally set.

I still have him in pull ups at night for the time being, though most nights they're not wet. The kid is a heavy sleeper, and children have small bladders, so I'm not forcing the issue for now. Anyway, this is a huge, big deal for us.
