Success at Long Last
After a year of consistent work, we've finally made it. Noah is officially potty trained for both pee and poop. I am relieved and proud. (And no, that's not Noah above. I'm not going to sacrifice his dignity by posting a picture of him on the pot).
Since Christmas, he has been in underpants with no accidents. But, he had insisted on pooping in a diaper. And by insisted, I mean major tears, fits, and withholding (which is a very bad thing).
At the beginning of March, I started telling him that when it was April, that he would be pooping in the potty only. No more diapers. We talked about it a lot. Last Friday was April 1. He wasn't too happy about it. He kept insisting that it was still March. But we persevered. It wasn't easy. We were having dinner at Sophia's house that night. Thankfully, the Wiegolds are good friends and didn't mind a little knock down, drag out parent/child tension over dinner. But finally, he did it. And now it seems like we're totally set.
I still have him in pull ups at night for the time being, though most nights they're not wet. The kid is a heavy sleeper, and children have small bladders, so I'm not forcing the issue for now. Anyway, this is a huge, big deal for us.

Natalie is still in diapers at night. Really, a bomb could go off and she would never wake up. DEEPEST, longest sleeper ever. On the weekends, she sometimes (most of the time!) sleeps 13 hours! So I don't force that issue either. (Oh and she doesn't wear one during naps, which can be 3.5-4 hours long sometimes. The kid loves to sleep). Just recently she started sometimes waking up in the morning with a dry diaper so I feel like maybe one of these days, we'll drop that too! (Uh yeah, maybe when she's 5!) Congrats Noah!
Seriously, if the kid sleeps that well, just put on a pull up and count your lucky stars!
