Cakah Pease
January 25, 2009: The first time Noah says 'please' without being prompted. He recently learned to say cracker (cakah) and he routinely points at the cabinet where we keep said crackers and says cakah when he wants one. I usually hold it out and say 'say please' and sometime he says 'pease' and sometimes he doesn't (he gets the cracker regardless). On Sunday he came up to me, pointed at the cabinet and said 'cakah pease.' A very special moment.

Who's he calling Mama now?
Noah is all about daddy. In the morning when I get him, he always says daddy. He points at Darren and yells daddy. So I've been trying to get him to say mommy, mama, some sort of maternal name for me. Yesterday while watching the inauguration, I tried to get him to say Obama. What does he say? Mama. I guess it's President Mama.

New Year's Eve Bash
We spent New Year's Eve with Noah's friends Mia, Sienna and Greydon and their families. Mia's mom and dad, Mara and Rob, hosted us at Rob's parents' house (they were out of the country and had enough room at their house for us to spend the night). It was a wonderful evening. Rob's parents have an amazing German Shepard-- enormous, but very very kind and kid loving. Needless to say, Noah would not leave him alone! I should have snapped a picture when I had a chance, but I was having too much fun to keep the camera out.
A Trip to the Zoo
I have this whole week off from work, so on Tuesday, we met up with Mara and Mia at the National Zoo here in DC. It was actually a really beautiful day, and not too cold, so perfect for the zoo. Noah really loved the animals (that's an understatement). We need to go back again soon. I think his favorite were the orangutans but he also loved the tortoises.
18 Month Statistics
Noah had his 18 month well child check up on Monday. He now weighs 26 lbs 1.8 oz (the 55th percentile) and he is 33.75 inches tall (the 80th percentile). He only had to get two shots- the final in both the Hep B and Hep A series. He was a trooper like usual.
